Tom Novy & Wally Lopez - “Toolroom Knights” - Toolroom Records
Easily one of my favorite compilation brands on the market, the Toolroom Knights series never fails to spotlight the best DJ’s from around the world with some of the most cutting edge music available. The latest installment raises the bar yet again with 2 discs of compelling beats featuring such gems as Marusha – “Kick It” and King Unique – “Yohkoh” not to mention Workidz – “Washmachine” which happens to be a staple in my DJ sets lately. This is a fantastic mix that will not disappoint.
Miguel Migs - “Those Things Remixed” - Salted Music
Last year, Miguel Migs wowed house critics everywhere with his album “Those Things.” This year he is about to do it again with the same stable of songs, but with a much different twist. His latest CD diversifies his sound by bringing in such remixers as Rasmus Faber, Cottonbelly and even UK band Crazy P to put their special touches on his music. The result is great and makes for a very enjoyable listen.
Leger & Lake - “Ghost” & “Word” - Rising Music
It’s always nice when a couple of your favorite producers team up because the odds are twice as good that it’s going to be something hot. After last year’s success of “Aqualight” Chris Lake and Sebastian Leger partner up once more for 2 hot new releases. The first, “Ghost,” is a very French influenced progressive disco record. It’s a really nice piece of music to get people tapping their feet and onto a dance floor. “Word” on the other hand is a little more edgy and the phat funky bassline along with its quirky hooks never fail to keep my dance floor satisfied. This is a great package.
