Steve Bug - “Fabric 37” - Fabric

With many of my DJ friends getting heavily into the minimal sound, I thought it might be nice to check out one of its early pioneers, Berlin based, Steve Bug. With little percussion, sporadic sounds sweeping by and an occasion vocal snippet, this is the genre at its best. By using really great tracks from Peace Division and Phonique, the mix was very refreshing and I didn’t hear any of the typical tracks found on most compilations. Steve says that the mix is influenced by his sets at Fabric and is a perfect snapshot of how he plays at the club. If that’s the case, it’s no wonder his nights are so popular.

Tikaro - “Shine On Me” - Juicy Music

Every March thousands upon thousands of DJ’s all set their sights on Miami for a chance to hear the best of what the World has to offer in hopes of finding that one song destined to become a classic. My early prediction this year is the Terranova & Leeds Mix of “Shine On Me.” The great male vocal performance, uplifting piano breakdowns and energetic electro grooves will be felt everywhere from poolside at the Shelborne to the terrace at Space. An incredible remix that shines above the rest.

Josh Gabriel - “Summit” - Organized Nature

Earlier this year at a party during NAMM, I was lucky enough to hear the rough mix of this and even in its infant stage it left a memorable impression. I am glad to see it finally being released, as there is nothing out there that I can really compare it to. In short, it’s an aggressive floor-pounding masterpiece that constantly surprises you while crossing several genre boundaries. There are also great remixes from Dusty Kid, Christopher Norman, plus a completely new reworking by Josh Gabriel himself. While the original is my personal favorite, any of the mixes in this package are sure to send your crowd into frenzy.
